Jared Solomon is a second term member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 18. Delegate Solomon serves as the Deputy Speaker Pro Tem, sits on the Appropriations Committee, and serves as the Chair of the Personnel Subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the Capital Budget Subcommittee and is House Chair of Joint Audit and Evaluation Committee, as well as the House Chair of the Maryland Transit Caucus and the Maryland Legislative Jewish Caucus.
As a legislator, Delegate Solomon focuses on improving the state’s education system, investing, and expanding transit, pedestrian safety, labor rights, the environment, and college access for first generation students. His successfully passed bills have included expanding access to childcare for working families, making public school budgets open and transparent, and protecting the safety of young people online through the Maryland Kids Code program.
Delegate Solomon started his career as a high school social studies teacher in Baltimore City through Teach for America and has worked as a senior policy advisor for U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.).
