2024 Nation’s Report Card Cohorts
The 2024 Nation’s Report Card (NAEP) provides the nation, states, and large urban school districts with critical information about how education systems are helping students make necessary gains in math and reading. Here is important context to remember about the 2024 student cohort.

4th Graders |
4th graders who took the 2024 Nation’s Report Card were in Kindergarten in March 2020. These students are in 5th grade in the 2024-25 school year. |
8th Graders |
8th graders who took the 2024 Nation’s Report Card were in 4th grade in March 2020. These students are in 9th grade in the 2024-25 school year. |
12th Graders |
12th graders who took the 2024 Nation’s Report Card were in 8th grade in March 2020. These students graduated high school in June 2024. If they enrolled in college, they are in their first year of postsecondary education in the 2024-25 school year. |
