Stephaan Harris

Stephaan Harris serves as Assistant Director for Communications, overseeing communications strategies and efforts concerning NAEP and Governing Board policies and actions, including outreach and partnership building with policymakers, journalists, researchers, educators, and others with a stake in K-12 education. Mr. Harris coordinates and manages events, presentations, briefings, webinars, publications, social media, website design, and development of materials, all with the goal to facilitate the use of NAEP data to inform policies and practices that improve education systems and student achievement and progress. Mr. Harris previously served as a public affairs specialist for the nonprofit Economic Policy Institute and as an award-winning journalist for several publications, including USA Today and the Raleigh News & Observer.
