Access and Opportunity: Arts Education in Our Schools
Arts Education In Our Schools
We visited four school-based arts programs across the country to discover how arts education makes a difference for students.
In Tacoma, Washington, Hilltop Artists use glass-blowing to shape students’ appreciation of the arts and teach them lessons. In Red Lake, Minnesota, their middle school uses the arts to connect and engage with their culture and community. The Arts-Based School in Winston-Salem, north Carolina structures their arts programs to support students’ learning in other subjects. Finally, in Boston, Massachusetts, the Orchard Gardens school is inspiring a new generation of artists through its dance program.
Watch the video above to see how faculty at these schools are teaching the arts — and how it makes a difference for their students.
