2022 NAEP Long-Term Trend Release
In September 2022, the National Assessment Governing Board hosted the release of the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Long-Term Trend results for 9-year-olds – the first nationally representative snapshot of student learning during the pandemic.
The 2022 NAEP LTT results for 9-year-olds provide the first glimpse of student academic progress from immediately prior to pandemic-related school disruptions to directly after full-time in-person school resumed for most of the nation.
The event featured a presentation of the study’s key findings by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and a discussion among NCES Commissioner Peggy Carr and Marty West, academic dean and professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and member of the National Assessment Governing Board.
