NAEP Math Assessment Framework

The 2009-2024 NAEP Math Assessment Framework outlines the knowledge and skills students should be able to demonstrate in math in 4th grade, 8th grade, and 12th grade. The 2024 Nation’s Report Card is the last math assessment using this framework.

The 2009-2024 NAEP Math Specifications are the detailed blueprint for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to construct the math assessment.

The updated NAEP Math Assessment Framework will be used in 2026 and beyond.
