Dear Colleague:
The National Assessment Governing Board seeks your assistance in identifying qualified individuals to serve as members of the Governing Board. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will appoint the members from a list of finalists submitted by the Governing Board.
Congress established the Governing Board to set policy for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)—also known as The Nation's Report Card. The Governing Board is seeking the very best nominees and broadest possible representation for contributing to its mission.
For 2012, the Governing Board is seeking nominations for five positions in the following categories:
- Testing and Measurement Expert
- Local Board of Education Member
- State Legislator (Republican)
- Non-Public School Administrator
- General Public Representative
Additional information about the positions and the nominating process is included here. To learn more about the Governing Board and its membership and responsibilities, please visit www.nagb.org. Feel free to contact me by phone at 202-357-6941 or via email at mary.crovo@ed.gov with questions.
We invite you to submit nominations, for others or yourself, in one or more of the five categories, and encourage you to forward this opportunity to colleagues and peers. The deadline for receiving nominations is September 30, 2011. We appreciate your assistance in identifying qualified individuals for potential service on the Governing Board.
Sincerely,
Mary Crovo
