Hidden Figures: Black Girls in STEM
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) gathers information on factors both in and outside of the classroom that may affect student achievement. In recent NAEP results for the STEM disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and math — data on these contextual variables reveal the opportunities and interests of young black women in those subjects. Such data can inform the efforts of educators, parents, and others to improve STEM education for all students.
